Armstrong says ‘silent majority’ supports Coinbase apolitical stance in leaked audio

Coinbase leadership recently moved to curb sociopolitical discourse within their company, mandating that the team should focus on the company’s mission rather than politics. Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong later held an all-hands meeting, billed as an “ask me anything” session, to discuss changes in company culture with his employees. Audio of this staff-wide meeting from Oct. 1 was subsequently leaked to media outlet Motherboard; the technology wing of Vice media.

“An internal all-hands meeting obtained by Motherboard shows Coinbase management was accused of ‘stunting internal discussion’ and that it forced employees to delete political Slack messages,” Motherboard wrote.

First ransomware attack in 2020 election hits voting infrastructure in Georgia

A ransomware attack targeting the government systems of Georgia’s Hall County also impacted key voting infrastructure it has been revealed.

Local officials initially released few details regarding the Oct. 7 attack, stating that “critical systems within the Hall County Government networks” had been affected. Today, CNN reported the incident “may be the first ransomware attack to hit election infrastructure this political season.”

Michael Saylor claims the company will hold Bitcoin for ‘100 years’

Microstrategy (NASDAQ:) CEO Michael Saylor said he will hold his company’s (BTC) for 100 years, and has no intention of selling it.

On Aug 11, the business intelligence firm announced it had purchase of 21,454 BTC for $250 million. This investment is now worth more than $278 million, representing an 11% increase in two months. The firm has purchased more Bitcoin since.

Traders on Paxful sell $16.2M of Bitcoin for discounted gift cards each week

A report published by Arcane Research has revealed that nearly half of Paxful’s trade volume comes from trade between (BTC) and gift cards.

The report found that, “purchasing Bitcoin with gift cards has been the preferred solution on Paxful each month throughout the five-year span analyzed,” and in June accounted for 48% of Paxful’s volume.
